Venetian shipyards (Arsenali)

During that golden age when the Venetian fleet dominated the Mediterranean Sea, the Venetian shipyards built (Arsenali). Intended to supply, repair or construction of new vessels and ships.
The construction of the first two completed at the beginning of the 16th century.

Length 50 meters, height of 10 meters and a width of 9 meters.
The years of Ottoman domination functioned as military depots but unfortunately after the Turkish occupation and then by many bombings and demolitions have survived only 9 of the 23 shipyards.
The shipyards also (mainly the big Arsenal) is also used as a school, hospital, theater and city hall. Τoday hosts major exhibitions and meetings.
